how should i display it?

You should convert the string back to a $_POST[‘name’] value before adding it to the SQL query, otherwise it would insert the HTML entities:
$sql_query = “SELECT * FROM names_description WHERE name = “. $_POST[‘name’]. “;”;
Since you said the Greek is well encoded I would also suggest looking at mb_convert_encoding() to make sure the text is still UTF-8 encoded and not replaced with another encoding.
